The lone complete-game shutout in Northeast Conference play this week belonged to Kelich. Bryant’s right-handed hurler continued to dazzle, out-dueling Sacred Heart southpaw Nick Leiningen in a 1-0 decision that doubled as the junior’s 21st career victory at the collegiate level. Upping his record to 6-2 while lowering his ERA to 1.40, Kelich blanked defending champion Sacred Heart over 9.0 innings in Friday’s series-opening victory. The third-year Bulldog made Kevin Brown’s fourth-inning run, which was scored on a wild pitch, hold up all afternoon long as he allowed only three soft singles and a walk on the way to his third complete-game effort this season. Kelich allowed singles in the third and fourth frames before escaping trouble in the sixth. With runners on first and second with one out for Sacred Heart following a base hit, stolen base, and subsequent walk, Kelich lured Dave Boisture to line into an inning-ending double play. The 6-foot-1 righty struck out six Pioneers and threw a total of 115 pitches in his latest start.
