Borelli threw his second consecutive complete-game shutout in Northeast Conference play when he one-hit Wagner in Game 2 of a four-game set. The rookie right-hander overcame some control problems to deliver a 4-0 victory for the Knights, who have already surpassed last year’s total of nine NEC victories. Borelli allowed a total of seven base runners over 7.0 scoreless innings, but never found himself in a heap of trouble. He worked around lead-off walks in the first, fourth, and sixth innings, and faced his only real threat in the fourth frame. After Wagner’s Eddie Brown led off the fourth with a walk and Nick Dini followed by singling, Borelli bore down and retired the next three batters in order. Pitching himself to his second straight NEC Rookie of the Week honor, Borelli allowed no runs, one hit, and five bases on balls in 7.0 innings. He plunked one batter and struck out three.
