Schlitter came as close to perfection as one can come without actually attaining it. Taking the ball for Game 2 of Bryant’s four-game NEC set with Central Connecticut, the right-handed hurler one-hit the Blue Devils while pitching Bryant to a 3-0 shutout victory. After all-NEC outfielder Jake Matuszak opened the game by tripling to right-centerfield, Schlitter slammed the door shut on Central Connecticut. Bryant’s sophomore righty recorded 21 outs in a row, five of which came via strikeout, to notch his second NEC win of the season. With Matuszak standing at third base in the first inning, Schlitter fanned all-NEC third baseman Mitch Wells. Next, he induced a ground ball from JP Sportman and watched his third baseman cut down Matuszak at home plate. The final line on Schlitter read: 7.0 innings, no runs, one hit, five strikeouts, and no bases on balls.
