After leading all rookie goal scorers during the 2011 NEC field hockey season, Bird has taken her talents to the tennis court. The first-year Bulldog posted two more victories last week to run her singles win streak to seven matches in a row. Occupying the No. 6 singles slot for Bryant, is one year away from becoming eligible for the NEC Tennis Championships, Bird flew past Sacred Heart senior Kristin Legenza, 6-1, 6-1 as part of a 5-2 team triumph. One day earlier, Bird accounted for one of Bryant’s two team points in its non-conference setback to America East member UAlbany. She blanked the Great Danes’ Francine White, 8-0, in an abbreviated singles match. Bird, and partner Devlin-Ann Ammendola, also won two doubles matches last week, both coming via an 8-6 count in the No. 3 position.
