Brown, whose brother Cody claimed the NEC Rookie of the Week honor earlier in 2012, enjoyed his most-effective day as a collegian thus far this past weekend against Constitution State rival Quinnipiac. The freshman southpaw twirled 7.0 scoreless innings of four-hit baseball in Sunday’s series finale. The South Jersey product struck out four Bobcat batters and walked only one as he pitched to a 0.71 WHIP (Walks-Hits-Inning Pitched). Setting Central up to complete the four-game series sweep, Brown handed the ball along with a 13-0 lead to the Blue Devils’ bullpen. The eventual 13-7 CCSU victory bumped Brown’s record to 2-1. The first-year Blue Devils sports a 3.80 ERA and has yet to allow a home run in 23.2 innings.
