Part of Fairleigh Dickinson’s massive freshmen class that has helped turn things around in Teaneck, Borelli is the third Knight to stake claim to the NEC Rookie of the Week award. Following in the footsteps of outfielders Riley Moonan and Shane Siebler, Borelli, a 6-foot right-hander, is the first Fairleigh hurler to earn the honor. Borelli baffled the bats of defending NEC champion Sacred Heart in Game 2 of a four-game conference set. The rookie righty went the distance in the 2-0 victory that guaranteed FDU no worse than a series split against the Pioneers. Borelli threw 7.0 shutout innings and surrendered only three hits in what was his first career collegiate start for FDU, which went on to take three of four from Sacred Heart. The first-year Knight fanned three batters and walked two in the victory. Like co-rookie honoree Casey Brown, Borelli pitched to a 0.71 WHIP.
