It was quite a nice start to the outdoor season for Ray. Making her collegiate debut in the discus, the first-year Colonial picked up a bronze medal at the Wake Forest Open and became the early NEC event leader in the process. Ray’s fling of 43.01m (141’ 1”) would have topped the field at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Championships. In addition to standing as the NEC’s top performance during the season’s opening weekend, the mark qualified Ray for the ECAC Championships, which are set for May.
