Owens put forth multi-hit efforts in back-to-back mid-week games against CAA members George Mason and James Madison. The rookie right fielder was a significant player in the Mount’s 9-6 road victory over CAA preseason favorite JMU. He went 2-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and one batted in against the defending CAA champion Dukes on Mar. 7. Owens laced a RBI single and later came around to score on a home run in the sixth frame of the eventual extra-inning triumph. The 6-foot-1 right-handed hitter sparked the game-winning rally by leading off the 11th inning with a base hit up the middle. He scored the go-ahead run three batters later and then watched his team tack on two more from the dugout. One day earlier, Owens went 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 5-2 setback to George Mason. The native Virginian connected on a leadoff single in the third inning against Mason and eventually scored the game’s first run. Owens batted .444 (4-for-9) with three runs and a RBI over the two-game sample.
