With Central Connecticut looking for its first win of the season, Brown delivered. The rookie southpaw threw 8.0 innings of two-run ball to make for a triumphant collegiate debut at Navy. Pitching the Blue Devils to a 3-2 road win over the Patriot League’s defending champion, Brown struck out eight batters and walked none. The freshman lefty setting down the first nine batters he faced in his first career start and wound up retiring the side in order five times. The Midshipmen, who are coming off a 33-win season and were tabbed to repeat as Patriot League champions, managed only four hits off Brown. Navy’s only two runs came via a solo homer and a wild pitch.
