Rosenkranz went 7-for-13 (.538) at the plate this past weekend and is now 2-for-2 in terms of NEC Player of the Week awards as a result. On the way to his second consecutive weekly honor, Rosenkranz put forth a pair of three-hit performances during Monmouth’s three-game series at CAA member Virginia Commonwealth. The New Jersey native, who attended high school only a few miles from Monmouth’s campus, drove in three runs and struck out only once over 13 plate appearances at VCU. He spearheaded the Hawks’ offensive effort in the team’s series-opening 6-4 victory, going 3-for-5 with two runs batted in. Rosenkranz’s third-inning RBI single staked Monmouth to a 2-1 advantage and the Hawks would lead the rest of the way. The right-handed swinging senior delivered another run-scoring single, which increased Monmouth’s lead to 5-2, in the seventh inning. Rosenkranz was responsible for one of the Hawks’ six hits in the middle game of the series, which ended with Monmouth on the short end of an 8-0 shutout. The Hawks’ No. 2 hitter went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI in the series finale, a 5-3 setback. He doubled and came around to score in the third inning of the series finale. Rosenkranz’s third RBI single of the weekend cut the Hawks’ deficit to 4-3 in the fifth inning of Game 3. Playing an error-free right field, Rosenkranz recorded five putouts and four assists over the three-game sample.
