Rosenkranz has spent a lot of time crossing home plate during the first two weekends of the college baseball season. Monmouth’s veteran outfielder scored at least one run in the first five games of his senior season and is the early NEC runs leader (10) as a result. In addition to touching plate 10 times, Rosenkranz has driven in five runs while batting .308 (8-for-26) in six games thus far. The Jersey Shore product, who is slugging .500, has logged two doubles, one home run, three bases on balls, and one stolen base over a season-opening sample that featured a three-game series at No. 17 Virginia and single neutral-site contests against Wright State, Saint Joseph’s, and Youngstown State. He walked and came around to score a run in the Hawks’ 10-2 season-opening triumph over WSU. Rosenkranz followed with two hits and two runs during a 7-1 thumping of A-10 member Saint Joe’s. The 5-foot-10 right-handed hitter experienced a power surge in a 14-2 win over Youngstown, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, a round-tripper, two walks, five runs, and three RBI. Rosenkranz drove in another two runs during the series opener at nationally-ranked UVA on Feb. 24. On the way to a 2-for-4 day, he belted a RBI double to opened the game’s scoring and came around to score to give Monmouth a 2-0 first-inning lead over a team that went to the 2011 College World Series. He singled and scored the Hawks’ lone run in the fourth inning of a 7-1 Game 2 defeat.
