Elardo was the lone thrower to qualify for the finals in both the shot put and weight throw at the 2012 New Balance Collegiate Invitational. On Friday night, the Jersey Shore product threw his way to a ninth-place finish by putting the shot 17.44m (57’ 2.75”). The following day, Elardo took ninth place in the weight throw with a 17.75m (58’ 4”) mark. Neither of Elardo’s throwing performances stand as seasonal bests, but both would rank him atop the NEC. The veteran Hawk is only one of three NCAA Division I athletes nationwide to have broken the 60-foot barrier in both throwing events this season. His seasonal best in the shot (18.31m) ranks 17th in the country.
