Scott topped a 26-finisher field in the 800-meter run at the Penn State National Meet and can call herself a NEC event leader as a result of the performance. The second-year Mountaineer, who won the 2011 NEC 500-meter crown, ran 800m in 2:11.22 to claim gold at PSU. Her time easily surpassed the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships on March and stands 2.1s better than the NEC’s second-best mark. If she can repeat the performance at the 2012 NEC Indoor Championships, which are set for Feb. 11-12, then the she will break the meet record set by Erika Jacobs (SFPA) in 2007. Scott was less than two-tenths of a second from breaking into the NCAA Division I Top 50.
