The NEC Rookie of the Week award crosses the Verrazano Bridge, going from the hands of a Wagner distance runner into the talons of a LIU Blackbird sprinter. Williams, who hails from the same Virginia high school that produced Jessie Gaines, ran the third-fastest 200-meter time in the NEC this season. Competing in a stacked field at the 2012 Great Dane Classic, Williams crossed the line in 25.12s to win her heat and grab sixth overall out of 62 entrants. The time is less than one-tenth of a second off of the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships.
