Elardo put forth his best effort yet. The reigning NEC champion in both throwing events produced a pair of throws in excess of 60 feet to win both the collegiate shot put and weight throw competitions at the 2012 Great Dane Classic. Producing two seasonal bests, Elardo nearly cracked 62 feet (18.89m) in the weight throw and put the shot 60’ 1” (18.31 m). The marks not only give Elardo a commanding lead over the NEC, but they rank the reigning conference champion amongst the top-30 performers in all of NCAA Division I. Only 13 men have put the shot farther than Elardo this season while his weight throw mark ranks 29th on the NCAA leader board.
