From one Blackbird jumper to another goes the NEC Field Athlete of the Week honor. Dethroning teammate Jessie Gaines (triple jump), Waller steps into the ring of honor following her huge leap at the NYC Gotham Cup. Waller was the top collegiate finisher in the long jump after registering a mark of 6.11m (20’ 5”). Waller’s bound gives her a narrow lead over Gaines, who jumped 6.10m at the Gotham Cup, for first on the NEC performance list. The bound obliterated the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships in March and stands four centimeters better than the NEC Indoor Championship meet record set by LIU’s Camilla Harris in 2003.
