With her veteran teammate Jessie Gaines making waves in the triple jump pit, Williams was busy doing work on the long jump runway at the Metro Coaches’ Invitational. The first-year Blackbird leaped to a first-place finish at the meet and matched the ECAC Championship qualifying standard in the process. Williams registered a winning mark of 5.70m (18’ 8.5”) to move ahead of former NEC Rookie of the Week Aisha Wright (Sacred Heart) for the long jump lead amongst NEC freshmen. She currently sits second overall on the league’s performance list.
