Elardo has competed in three meets thus far this season and has three NEC Field Athlete of the Week awards to show for them. The reigning NEC champion in both the shot put and weight throw tossed his way to easy victories in both throwing events at the Rutgers Invitational. Although neither of his winning marks were seasonal bests, they both far surpassed the qualifying standards for the IC4A Championships in March. Elardo put the shot 17.26m to finish first with more than one meter to spare. His winning toss of the 32-pound weight (17.23m) also topped the field by more than one meter and was 43 centimeters better than the IC4A mark.
