Palmer became the first NEC player to break the 30-point barrier this season. The preseason all-NEC forward poured in 31 points in 36 minutes to lead Long Island to a 69-61 home win over Cal Poly. The 5-foot-10 Palmer grabbed 10 rebounds, including five off the offensive glass, against the Big West member to account for what was her third double-double this season. Helping Long Island win for the fourth time in a row, Palmer also made three steals in what was the Blackbirds’ lone game last week. Palmer’s 31-point performance, which came of 10-for-21 shooting, pushed the fourth-year Blackbird into the top spot on the NEC’s scoring leader board (18.6 ppg).
