Washington has scored in double digits in all but two games this season, and neither of those contests came last week. The rookie from Arizona shot 56.5 percent from the field and averaged 17.0 points per contest during the Sacred Heart’s 2-0 week. Washington was sensational from three-point range, shooting 71.4 percent (5-of-7), on the way to her second straight Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award, and third of the season. The Pioneers’ freshman shooting guard followed up a 10-point effort in a 25-point win over Saint Peter’s by pouring in a career-high 24 points to lead the way in an 89-69 triumph over Cal Poly. Washington’s first 20-plus point performance at the collegiate level accounted for the highest single-game scoring output of any NEC player last week. She went 10-for-15 shooting, including a 4-for-6 clip from three-point range, in 28 minutes of floor time against the Big West member. The 24 points in 28 minutes raised Washington’s season scoring average to 12.3 ppg, a mark that ranks second amongst NEC rookies behind Quinnipiac’s Jasmine Martin.
