The weather conditions took away UAlbany’s passing game, but it didn’t take away the Danes’ offense. Smith led the Great Danes’ ground-and-pound attack in a 24-0 NEC shutout victory over Wagner by totaling 170 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound tailback logged 149 yards rushing and made three receptions for a total of 21 yards. The Empire State product was extremely effective on a snow-covered field at Wagner Stadium, running 23 times for a 6.5 yards per carry average. Smith ran seven straight times, including a pair of 14-yard runs and a one-yard scoring plunge, during an eight-play touchdown drive that broke a scoreless tie in the second quarter. He helped break open a tight game in the third period, producing a pair of key plays that set up a touchdown run by Dillon Romain. Smith caught a 15-yard pass for a first down before breaking free on a 48-yard run.
