It’s never easy to punt at perpetually-windy Wagner Stadium, especially when it’s snowing, but Layton did just fine in UAlbany’s 24-0 shutout of the Seahawks. The fourth-leading punter is all of NCAA Division I FCS punted six times for an average of 38.3 yards per kick in dramatically unfavorable conditions. Giving the Great Danes the advantage in the field position battle, Layton placed three of his six punts inside of the opponents’ 20-yard line and went the entire game without a touchback. After UA’s opening drive stalled at Wagner’s 40-yard line, Layton, kicking with the wind in his face, pinned the Seahawks at their own nine-yard line. Punting from his own end late in the second quarter, Layton blasted a 58-yard bomb that went out of bounds at Wagner’s 24-yard line.
