Spence found the end zone four times in Sacred Heart’s 60-45 shootout victory over NEC rival Saint Francis (PA). The 5-10, 230-pound freshman carried 16 times for 124 yards as part of the Pioneers’ 274-yard rushing performance. Spence scored two of his four touchdowns in the first quarter, helping Sacred Heart jump out to a 21-0 advantage that it would not relinquish. The burly back opened the game’s scoring by capping a 12-play, 74-yard drive with a two-yard TD plunge. Fewer than 10 minutes later, Spence found pay dirt again, this time, on a 13-yard scamper. It was the second time in four weeks, Spence surpassed the 120-yard rushing mark on his way to winning the NEC Rookie of the Week honor.
