Mount St. Mary’s kept pace in the NEC playoff hunt thanks to the play of it’s star rookie, freshman Zoncher Dennis, who earned a share of this week’s adidas/NEC Rookie of the Week honor after scoring the game-winner in a 3-1 win over Bryant. Dennis, a four-time NEC weekly honoree, solidified the Mount’s third NEC win, sixth overall, when he buried his league-leading 10th goal of the season at the 28:33 mark of the first half, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead at the time. Teammate Jimmy Ockford would score his second of the match in the 69th minute to balloon the score to 3-0 before Bryant closed out the game in the 90th minute. Dennis, who leads the league in five offensive categories, including goals, points and game-winning goals, now has 10 goals and 21 points to his first-year resume.
