The Great Danes’ defense bottled up the NEC’s top-ranked offense in Week 6 and Gallo was at the center of the effort. The defensive tackle made five stops and a couple of key plays for a unit that held the Dukes to their lowest offensive output of the season. He recorded a sack and forced fumble in the 38-10 victory. Duquesne, which had accounted for no fewer than 342 yards in any of its first five games, was averaging a league-leading 470.8 yards of offense entering its visit to Albany, but managed only 235 yards against the Gallo-led Great Danes. Gallo twice halted scoring threats from the nation’s fifth-ranked offense. With Duquesne facing a 4th-and-1 situation at Albany’s 34-yard line early in the second quarter, Gallo blew by his blocker and dropped preseason all-NEC running back Larry McCoy for no gain. Early in the fourth quarter, Gallo spoiled Duquesne’s 1st-and-10 opportunity from the UA 29-yard line by forcing McCoy to fumble.
