Sacred Heart has found its groove and so has its sophomore signal caller. Little passed his way to 371 yards, three touchdowns, and a third consecutive victory. The first-year starter went 33-of-48 passing without being intercepted in a 34-25 triumph over Columbia. Leading the Pioneers to their second victory over an Ivy League member in three weeks, Little set a career high in passing yardage and accounted for the highest single-game output by a NEC quarterback thus far this season. The 6-foot-4 quarterback turned a 13-6 deficit into a 27-13 lead by accounting for three touchdowns over a 6:24 span. Little hit Rich Rossi on a 28-yard scoring strike that tied the contest at 13-13 with only 47 seconds remaining in the opening half. The New Jersey product took advantage of a short field on teh Pioneers’ opening possession of the third quarter. He completed passes of six and 31 yards to bring the ball to Columbia’s 1-yard line and then plunged in for a touchdown on a quarterback keeper that put SHU ahead for good, 20-13. On SHU’s next possession, Little capped a seven-play drive by hooking up with Garry Coles on a 27-yard scoring play and a 27-13 SHU advantage 5:37 into the second half. He accounted for a fourth touchdown by finding Rossi again, this time on a 12-yard play, for a touchdown with 9:33 left in the contest.
