Northeast Conference receiver had reached the 170-yard mark in a single game during any of the past three seasons, but Dixon nearly achieved the feat in the first quarter alone. The veteran wideout made four receptions for a total of 175 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-14 NEC road victory over rival Saint Francis (PA). Dixon set the tone for the Dukes by catching three passes for 168 yards in the game’s first 15:00. On Duquesne’s first play from scrimmage, the 6-foot-5 sixth-year senior sprinted down the left sideline and hauled in a 41-yard pass from Sean Patterson. With the Dukes trailing 7-6 and just over 3:00 remaining in the opening period, Dixon once again beat his man down the far sideline and this time, he went 87 yards to pay dirt to give Duquesne the lead for good. Then, 2:22 later, Dixon struck again by catching a 40-yard scoring strike that bumped the Dukes’ advantage to 20-7. Dixon, who was granted a sixth year of eligibility via a NCAA medical hardship waiver one day prior to the Dukes’ 2011 opener, accounted for the highest single-game receiving total that the NEC has seen since Steve Tedesco logged 184 yards against Saint Francis (PA) on October 27, 2007.
