Having a hand in the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Howard last Wednesday, freshman Pablo Medina of Saint Francis (PA) is this week’s adidas/NEC Rookie of the Week. Medina, a native of Bradenton, FL, doubled his career assist total and helped the Red Flash to their second win of the season when he relayed a pass from goalkeeper Darius Motazed up field to Makala Hairston, who fired a long-range shot over the Howard netminder’s head early in the second stanza. His effort against the Bison marks the second time this season he set up the game-winning strike. In the first game of the season, Medina, making his first collegiate start, set up Wayne Tiller for the eventual game-deciding goal in a 3-0 shutout of Pittsburgh.
