Maguire claims her second consecutive adidas/NEC Rookie of the Week nod this week and third of her young career. The freshman continues to be a spark on offense for Central Connecticut as she scored both goals in the Blue Devils’ double overtime tie with NEC rival Sacred Heart on Sunday. Trailing 2-0 at intermission the native of Ireland took matters into her own hands. She blasted a penalty kick past the SHU goalie to put the Blue Devils on the board in the 56th minute. Eight minutes later, Maguire took a pass from Allison Kelly at the top of the box and launched a shot into the upper 90 to knot the score at 2 apiece. This was the first multi-goal game of the rookie’s career. She now leads CCSU with five goals and 13 points on the season.
