Blackbird rookie Annika Foit garners her first Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week honor after a strong showing at the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup where she earned All-Tournament honors. The freshman had a strong game against No. 1 California leading the team with nine kills. This would prove to be only the beginning of a great weekend for the German native as she went on to record her first career double-double in a 3-1 win over East Carolina, notching 16 kills and 20 digs. The opposite hitter also added a pair of blocks while also maintaining a .500 hitting percentage. Foit, who tallied 12 digs and a .400 hitting percentage in a competitive setback against ACC opponent Virginia, finished the weekend with a .353 total hitting percentage, 36 digs and 33 kills.
