Gibeau nabs her first Molton/NEC Player of the Week nod after a strong weekend for Long Island at the Hamption Inn Classic. The outside hitter began the weekend notching 16 kills in a come from behind 3-2 win over Big East opponent St. John’s. This marked the first time LIU had defeated its local rival since 2004. After a five kill match in the Blackbird’s setback against No. 5 Penn State, Gibeau played strong in the final two matches of tournament. The Colorado native put up a weekend high 21 kills in a close 3-1 loss to Florida Gulf Coast and followed up with a 20-kill performance in LIU’s sweep of Big East opponent Rutgers. She averaged 4.13 kills per game on the weekend.
