Leading the Colonials to a 2-1 victory over cross-town rival Pittsburgh last Friday, senior Francis Bowman earned this week’s adidas/NEC Player of the Week award. The Fawn Grove, PA native assisted on both goals to help the Colonials record their first season-opening victory since 2007, and move their record to 8-1 at home dating back to the 2010 season. He set up the first goal when he sent a perfectly-placed cross from the left corner of the field to the foot of sophomore Miro Cabrilo for the score at the 10:27 mark. The veteran midfielder then sprung second-year striker Prince Samuels with a through ball that produced a 2-0 lead in the 59th minute of play. With his two-assist outing against the Panthers, Bowman tripled his career total and marked his first helper since setting up the game-winner against St. Francis (NY) on Oct. 22, 2010.
