Maguire was sensational out of the bullpen and earned the Game 3 victory that put Sacred Heart in position to complete a sweep defending NEC champion Central Connecticut. Coming on in relief of freshman starter Cody Kerski during Central’s six-run fifth inning, Maguire gave up back-to-back hits and allowed an inherited runner to score before moving into lock-down mode. The rookie righty retired the ensuing seven Blue Devil batters, four via strikeout. After Sacred Heart pushed across a pair of runs to take an 8-6 lead in the top half of the seventh, Maguire sealed his third victory of the season by striking out the side in the bottom half of the frame. In all, Maguire pitched 2.1 innings during which he allowed two hits and no runs while walking none.
