Williams bumped Sacred Heart shot putter Chase Petrucci, last week’s NEC field honoree, out of the No. 1 spot on the NEC leader board by turning in a personal record at the Penn Relays. Having improved upon his seasonal best mark during each of the past four weeks, Williams worked his way all the way to first place in the Penn Relays Eastern Collegiate shot put competition. The Constitution State product, who hails from West Hartford, put the shot 17.13m (56’ 2.5”) to top a field of 29 competitors at the historic Penn Relays. Williams, who also ranks third amongst NEC discus throwers heading into this weekend’s conference championship meet, holds a 79-centimeter lead over Petrucci in the shot put.
