Leonello put up six hits and six runs during Long Island’s four-game series sweep of Mount St. Mary’s. He hit .474 (9-for-19) with nine runs scored, six RBI, two walks, and a pair of stolen bases during last week’s schedule, which also included a non-conference date with Lafayette. After a 3-for-5 performance that yielded three RBI and three runs scored against the Leopards, Leonello scored at least one run in each of the Blackbirds’ four NEC wins over Mount. The left-handed hitting outfielder recorded two hits in each of LIU’s first three games against the Mount. Leonello connected on two triples in the non-league game against Lafayette and added another three-bagger while leading off the third inning of LIU’s 6-2 win over Mount St. Mary’s in Game 2 of the NEC set. He scored to pull LIU even at 5-5 in the sixth inning of Game 3, an eventual 6-5 win. Leonello did not record a base knock during the series finale, but walked twice and came around to score a pair of runs in LIU’s 11-9 triumph.
