One week after making herself a NEC title contender in the 5K, Nelson turned in the top 10,000-meter time the conference has seen thus far this spring. Nelson was the first collegiate competitor to cross the finish line at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational, doing so in 35:58.02. Her time was more than one minutes and 40 seconds better than the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships. The Jersey Shore product, who came to Monmouth from Ocean County College, completed a 3K-5K double at the NEC Indoor Championships back in February, posting a pair of top-four finishes. In additional to holding the NEC outdoor lead in the 10K, Nelson ranks third amongst the league’s top 5,000-meter runners.
