One week after turning in the No. 1-ranked javelin mark on the Northeast Conference performance list, DuVernois topped himself. The sophomore threw the javelin 70.31m (230' 8") to easily win the Moravian Greyhound Invitational and cement his status as the mid-season favorite to strike gold at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Championships, which will unfold on Monmouth’s Jersey Shore-based campus on May 7-8. DuVernois, who is one of three NEC javelin throwers to eclipse 215 feet, had set a previous best of 69.43m (227’ 9”) while winning UCLA’s Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational on April 7.
