Following a one-week hiatus, Labarthe has returned to the NEC Rookie of the Week post for a conference-record eighth time this academic year. Labarthe took it upon herself to unseat last week’s honoree, Gabi Kaldan of Sacred Heart. Facing Kaldan in a No. 3 singles showdown, Labarthe prevailed by a convincing 6-1, 6-1 score. After helping Quinnipiac to a 7-0 team shutout of Sacred Heart, Labarthe did her part in the Bobcats’ 6-1 triumph over Big East member Villanova. The Sooner State product quickly downed Nova’s Alexandra Harding, 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 3 position. Labarthe has won 22 of 27 singles matches contested this season, including a 14-3 record during dual match play in the No. 3 slot.
