Cantor posted a pair of No. 1 singles victories last week, one of which came over three-time NEC Player of the Week Elmine Botes. Cantor and the Bobcats opened the week by dealing Constitution State rival Fairfield a 7-0 shutout loss. Coming back from down one set, Cantor topped the Stags’ Sharissa Ryan in a third-set super tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-1, 11-9. Quinnipiac needed every team point it pulled in during its match against NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson. Helping the Bobcats to a 4-3 team victory over the Knights, Cantor defeated Botes in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, for the second consecutive year. Cantor tried, but could not make it three in a row when Quinnipiac faced Stony Brook. She fell to Nini Lagvilava in straight sets. The weekly honor is Cantor’s first of the spring season and her first since the opening week of fall season when she shared the award with teammate Adrienne Markison.
