Middleton traded places with Sacred Heart teammate Athalia Smith in claiming the NEC Field Athlete of the Week award. One week after her hammer throwing classmate held the honor, Middleton received recognition for her discus performance at the Bryant University Invitational. Middleton’s mark of 43.45m (142’ 7”) makes her the early season NEC discus leader by more than 12 feet and qualifies her for the ECAC Championships in May. The third-year Pioneer’s 2011 seasonal best topped the winning mark (42.44) from last year’s NEC Championships by 1.01m.
