Terry hit safely in all six of Monmouth’s games last week to run his hit streak to 11 consecutive contests. After logging a hit and a run apiece in non-conference mid-week games against local rivals Saint Peter’s and Columbia, Terry accounted for an offensive eruption when defending NEC champion Central Connecticut visited the Jersey Shore for a four-game weekend set. Terry, who hit .478 in 23 at-bats over the week-long sample, went 9-for-14 (.643) at the plate with four runs scored, two walks, and three stolen bases as Monmouth took three-of-four from the Blue Devils. The veteran infielder, who can play second, short, or third, was especially potent in the second half of the two doubleheaders the two NEC rivals played on Saturday and Sunday. After doubling in the Hawks’ 2-0 series-opening victory on Saturday, Terry went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored twice in a Game 2 triumph. Terry singled down the leftfield line to lead off the seventh inning of a 2-2 game and came around to score the winning run on Ed Martin’s walk-off single. The fourth-year Hawk continued his hit streak by singling in the first inning of Game 3, an eventual 4-0 setback for Monmouth, before going 4-for-4 in the series finale. The former NEC Rookie of the Year (2008) reached base in all five of his plate appearances during the 10-9 win that sealed the series victory for the Hawks. Terry doubled, walked, connected on three singles, and scored a pair of runs in Game 4. His lead-off single sparked the Hawks’ four-run seventh inning, which turned a 9-6 deficit into a one-run lead. Earlier in the week, Terry blasted a two-run homer in the first inning of a 9-4 win over Columbia, last year’s Ivy League runner-up.
