Botes went unbeaten during a trio of No. 1 singles matches last week. As a result, she makes her way into the NEC Player of the Week post for the second time this spring season. Botes saved her best for the Knights’ last match of last week, a bout with nationally-ranked Yale. Accounting for one of FDU’s two team points in the 5-2 setback to the No. 28 Bulldogs, Botes topped Yale’s Vicky Brook in a third-set super tiebreaker, 5-7, 7-5, 10-7. Prior to the Yale match, Botes posted singles points in back-to-back 6-1 team wins over Fordham and Sacred Heart. She held on to beat Fordham’s Mia Fiocca, 6-1, 2-6, 10-6. Botes needed significantly less time to top Kate Donnelly, 6-0, 6-3, of NEC rival Sacred Heart. In her second year after transferring from Indiana State, Botes owns a 20-10 singles record.
