Carper made his collegiate outdoor debut one to remember. The Robert Morris rookie sent the javelin 64.19m (210’ 7”) to finish in second place at the Wake Forest Open (Mar. 18). The mark tied the Colonials’ program record, which was set back in 2005, and immediately makes him the early favorite for the NEC crown. In addition to well-surpassing the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships, Carper’s mark ranks 16th amongst NCAA Division I East Region leaders. The top-ranked freshman in the East through the first two weeks of the outdoor campaign sits 28th overall on the NCAA national leader board.
