Carrillo was a hit at the Music City Classic. Going up against a number of NCAA heavyweights, Carrillo averaged 22.61 pins per frame during the three-day event that featured 16 teams ranked in the latest edition of the NTCA Top 20 Poll. She earned a spot on the Music City All-Classic Team after helping the Knights to a 13-2 record and overall second-place finish. The right-handed Garden State product started all 15 matches for National No. 1 FDU and left only seven open frames all weekend. Striking 60.3 percent of the time and converting 87.5 percent of her spare attempts, Carrillo posted a .948 filled frames percentage. Her six-game traditional average (217.7) ranked second, only to teammate Danielle McEwan, out of 169 individual bowlers in attendance. Carrillo bowled no lower than a 203 during each of Saturday’s six traditional team games, five of which were won by FDU. She opened the traditional portion of the meet by bowling her weekend high of 227 in a convincing win over Southern. Carrillo rolled a 212 in FDU’s sixth traditional match, a 1096-974 rout of No. 3 Central Missouri. The third-year Knight turned in a 225-pin performance against No. 8 Arkansas State in what was FDU’s lone loss of the tournament until Sunday’s championship match against No. 5 Nebraska. With traditional team play accounting for less than half of the three-day schedule, FDU needed Carrillo’s hot hand in posting an 8-1 record in baker matches at the tournament. Topping her traditional frame average, Carrillo averaged 23.3 pins per baker frame.
