Hernandez has emerged as the NEC’s top freshman goal scorer one month into the 2011 campaign. Last week, she finished with five goals and an assist for the Colonials, who dropped games to a pair of A-10 opponents in Duquesne and St. Bonaventure. Hernandez scored twice in a 13-5 setback to the Dukes on Wednesday. Two days later, she netted her second career hat trick with three goals and an assist as the Bonnies rallied in the last 20 minutes to secure a 13-8 win over the Colonials. Hernandez, who has tallied nine goals in her last three games, leads Robert Morris with 12 goals and 15 points on the year. The New Albany, OH native is the league’s tenth-ranked goal producer with 2.0 per game.
