Balestrieri and the Bulldogs contested a trio of dual matches down in Puerto Rico and returned to the States with a pair of wins. The Argentine posted two straight-sets singles victories, the second of which came against Chris Ujkic of rival Sacred Heart. Balestrieri fought his way past Ujkic, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles position to help the Bulldogs pull out a 4-3 team victory over their NEC rival. One day earlier, Balestrieri manned the top spot in Bryant’s singles lineup during a 7-0 shutout of Minnesota State. The veteran Bulldog posted a quick win over Mitch Barr, 6-2, 6-1. Balestrieri’s lone singles setback last week came via a third-set super tiebreaker during Bryant’s 5-2 team loss to Connecticut. Playing second singles in Bryant’s first match of the week, Balestrieri fell to UConn’s Scott Warden, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8.
