McGee made his collegiate debut during Monmouth’s three-game set at Virginia Commonwealth and helped the Hawks secure a series victory in the process. The freshman lefty appeared in each of Monmouth’s two wins over the weekend, twirling 6.1 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits over the two appearances, while striking out four and not issuing a base on balls. McGee did most of his work in the Hawks’ triumphant series finale. After entering the eventual extra-inning victory with two out in the sixth, the southpaw spun 5.1 frames of two-hit ball to tilt the rubber game in Monmouth’s favor. McGee came on to pitch the ninth inning of the season opener. The rookie recorded the final three outs of the game, working around one hit, in what was a non-save situation.
