Filling in for an all-time great can present quite a challenge, but it hasn’t seemed to faze Norman much. The first-year Pioneer, who took over the starting point guard spot when former NEC Player of the Year Alisa Apo suffered a season-ending injury, used a hot hand to lead Sacred Heart past a pair of NEC foes last week. Norman averaged 16.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 rebounds during road wins over Bryant and Central Connecticut. She shot 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the field to help the Pioneers keep pace with second-place co-inhabitants Monmouth and Long Island. Norman notched a career-high 19 points, on 7-for-11 shooting, in a 74-54 victory at Bryant. The rookie had 13 points and four assists in a 71-55 win over Central, which gave SHU a season split with their Nutmeg State rival.
