Leach’s red-hot hand allowed the defending NEC champion Red Flash to sweep Keystone rival Robert Morris and take firm control of first place during NEC Rivalry Week. The senior guard averaged 26.0 points and 4.0 rebounds over the home-and-home series that featured a pair of 10-2 NEC teams at the start. Looking like a shooting clinician , Leach made 17-of-33 field goal attempts, including a 6-for-9 clip from three-point range, and went a near-perfect 12-of-13 from the free throw line. With Saint Francis (PA) facing an opportunity to take a 2.0-game lead in the NEC standings, Leach poured in a season-high 36 points to spearhead the Flash’s comeback bid in an 81-73 road win. Saint Francis trailed by 17 points early on in the second half until Leach exploded for 15 points during a 22-4 run that gave the Flash a 47-46 lead. With her team holding a two-point advantage late, Leach put the game away by scoring eight points over the final 1:20 of regulation. She hit a jumper that bumped the Flash’s lead from two to four and proceeded to hit six consecutive free throws to preserve it. Leach scored 16 points two days earlier when the Flash posted an 18-point win over RMU in Loretto. She went 6-for-12 shooting and sank both of her three-point attempts during the first leg of the home-and-home rivalry series. Leach, who recently earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team, remains atop the NEC scoring leader board with a 17.3 points per game average.
