Following a two-week absence, Spanou returns to the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week post for a sixth time this season. Spanou maintained her NEC lead in doubles-doubles while Robert Morris held retained its spot atop the conference standings. Running her league-leading total to eight, the freshman forward posted double-doubles in victories over Central Connecticut State and Bryant last week. Spanou averaged 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds over a pair of wins that ran Robert Morris’ NEC record to 10-2. She used a sensational second half against Bryant to set her career high in scoring. On her way to 23 points and 12 boards in the 64-45 victory, Spanou made only 1 of her first 10 shots from the floor before going 8-for-9 shooting after halftime. The six-time NEC Rookie of the Week tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds in RMU’s 54-51 triumph over CCSU, two days earlier. The Greek National Team member is averaging a double-double of 12.9 points and 10.5 rebounds against NEC opponents this season.
